Hello and welcome to this month’s MFT Die-namics Design Challenge! This month is all about shapes—STAX shapes, that is.

Here’s the challenge the design team received:

We love STAX for their versatility and value. Basic shapes in a variety of sizes make them a fantastic way to beef up your toolbox with supplies that will stand the test of time and never go out of style. Beyond simple matting, these die cuts can be layered and combined in completely new and unique ways and this month, our team will give you just a taste of their capabilities. While STAX run the gamut to include stars, hearts, and flags, this month we’re focusing on the most elemental shapes of all: squares, rectangles, circles, and ovals. We’ve opened things up a little bit to include a variety of border options so you’ll see some stitched and pierced detailing, but you’ll be astounded by how creative you can be with a few simple lines and curves.

A couple of months ago, my very talented team mate Jodi posted a card that just blew me away and I’ve been wanting to do my version of it ever since and just never got around to it. Well, today’s the day. Mine is not nearly as creative as hers, but I’m liking it pretty well :)

I started with a Sweet Tooth card stock base for this card. Then, on a panel of Sweet Tooth card stock I built up a bunch of Zig Zag Stitched Square STAX Die-namics die cuts using scraps I had leftover from other projects. These scrapes were created using Sweet Tooth card stock, Orange Fizz card stock, and Berrylicious card stock, Black Licorice dye ink, Orange Zest dye ink, Daffodil dye ink, Grout Gray dye ink, and Berrylicious dye ink. The stamps I used these stamps: Burlap Background, Candy Jar Companions, Grid Background, Happy Birthday Background, Linen Background, and LJD Spring Backgrounds. Then it was a matter of arranging and adhering, some popped up on foam mounting tape. The sentiment is from MSTN Happy Pandas and was stamped on Black Licorice card stock with Versamark, then heat embossed with white detail embossing powder and also popped up on foam. I tied around some hemp baker’s twine, added some enamel dots, and it was done.

A sentiment from Birthday Sentiments was stamped on the inside.
