Waving Hello–SSSC #213

 SSSC213_2014mar30

Hello again, everyone! Today is Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge day and Karen has a sweet sketch for us indeed! This sketch is designed to be long and slim—my card is 5 1/2” x 3 1/2” and is such a cute size!!!

SSSC213

My first glance at this sketch made me think of the ship’s wheel from Let’s Get Nautical Die-namics so that’s what I went with. I started with a Primitive White card stock base. Then I trimmed down a piece of Black Licorice card stock and a piece of Kraft card stock and stamped the anchor from Go Overboard with Versamark on the Kraft card stock. Then I stencil Berrylicious ink onto a piece of Sno Cone card stock with Waves Stencil, stitched those three together and popped them up on the base with foam tape.

I stamped the sentiment, also from Go Overboard, on a strip of Black Licorice card stock with Sweet Tooth pigment ink and heat embossed with off white embossing powder and popped it up on the card. Next I stamped a piece of Kraft card stock with Wood Plank Background and Kraft ink, cut the ship’s wheel out, and popped it up, as well. To finish it off, I added a couple of wooden dots.

The inside has another sentiment from Go Overboard.

Spoil Yourself Today–C4C #229

C4C229_2014mar29

Hi, everyone! It’s Crazy 4 Challenges time! Today Kelli Jo is challenging us to add some kind of “trick” to our cards or projects. In her words: HA!  April Fools is right around the corner... let's create a card/project that has a trick in it... Pocket card, slider, magic card... you know, it has SOMETHING to give the receiver a OOOOO moment!!!! :)”

I’m not sure I followed the spirit of the challenge, but I’m not a “trick” kind of girl, LOL! I like to keep my cards simple but I did add a gift card pocket so I “sort of” got it, LOL! I’m thinking it’ll create that OOOOOOOOOO moment just fine ;-)

I started with a Kraft card stock base, then added a Sweet Tooth card stock layer that I embossed with Modern Morocco Die-namics. I popped that up on foam, then added three strips of color, using Blu Raspberry card stock, Orange Fizz card stock, and Steel Gray card stock. I cut those pieces with Chalkboard Frame Builder Die-namics and adhered them just as they were cut—they fit perfectly and made perfect cuts—LOVE!! Then I created a pocket, using Gift Card Pocket – Vertical Die-namics, cut from Sweet Tooth card stock and stamped with a sentiment from Gift Card Greetings using Orange Fizz ink and Steel Gray ink. I lined the inside with some Blu Raspberry card stock stamped with Sweet Tooth pigment ink using DC Large Scale Backgrounds.

To finish it off, I added a vellum flower made with Pretty Posies Die-namics and Royal Leaves Die-namics with an orange enamel dot for the center. A small Kraft card stock flag graces the top of the pocket, cut from Blueprints 12 Die-namics.

The inside has a sentiment from
LJD Birthday Greetings.

And that's it! Be sure to check out what the rest of the design team has for you, including our fabulous guest designer for March, Jeanne Streiff.

THEN, you know what to do--we'd love to have you come along and play with us. Just do your thing with the challenge and link it to Mr. Linky on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Please link directly to your project. And, if you upload to a public gallery, please use the key word C4C2289.

You Are Wonderful–MFTWSC #170

MFTWSC169_2014mar26

Hey, there! It’s Wednesday noon so it must be time for this week’s
MFTWSC! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

MFTWSC169

My card started with a Sweet Tooth card stock base. Next I added a piece of Blu Raspberry card stock stamped with DC Large Scale Backgrounds using Sweet Tooth pigment ink and some Sweet Tooth card stock stamped with Sheet Music Background and Black Licorice ink. I separated the two with a strip of Black Licorice card stock, adhered them to a panel of Black Licorice card stock, and popped it up on foam.

Then I popped up a Designer Labels 2 STAX Die-namics cut from Black Licorice card stock and onto which I stamped a sentiment from Simply Fabulous Sayings with Sweet Tooth pigment ink and heat embossed. I made a flower, using Flower Medley Die-namics cut from Razzle Berry card stock. The bottom layer was stamped with Versamark and an image from LLD Mod Borders to give it some interest. The center is Lemon Drop card stock and a Lemon Drop button tied with black hemp. I added Royal Leaves Die-namics cut from Fuse Green card stock.

The inside has a sentiment from Sending Thanks.
